Synopsis

In the sweltering Mississippi Delta, an impoverished middle-aged cotton gin owner lives in an unconsummated marriage of convenience in a decaying antebellum plantation manor with his nineteen-year-old thumb-sucking child-bride Baby Doll who sleeps in a crib until her twentieth birthday, setting off a venomous rivalry when a Sicilian syndicate cotton syndicate manager burns his rival's gin and seduces Baby Doll on the porch swing.
