Splendor in the Grass
Synopsis
In 1928 Kansas on the eve of the Wall Street Crash, two passionate high school sweethearts are torn apart by puritanical sexual repression and domineering parental expectations, driving the fragile, repressed girl into a nervous breakdown and psychiatric sanitarium while the boy is coerced into a sterile oil-fortune destiny: 'Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendour in the grass, of glory in the flower...' Elia Kazan and William Inge's Oscar-winning melodrama starring Natalie Wood (Oscar Best Actress nominee) and Warren Beatty in his sensational film debut.
