Through the Olive Trees
Zir-e derakhtan-e zeytun
Synopsis
In the olive groves of rural Koker, a film crew shoots the scene from And Life Goes On depicting a young couple married after the earthquake, but the non-professional actor Hossein is desperately in love with his co-star Tahereh in real life, spending every rehearsal and break walking behind her through winding paths trying to convince her to speak to him, culminating in a legendary distant long take across green hills. Abbas Kiarostami's Cannes-competing self-reflexive romantic masterpiece—the crowning finale of the Koker Trilogy.
