Stromboli
Stromboli, terra di Dio
Synopsis
A refined Lithuanian refugee in a post-war Italian internment camp marries a simple fisherman to escape imprisonment, moving to his barren, superstitious volcanic island of Stromboli where the hostile villagers, boiling lava eruptions, and brutal tuna slaughter push her to a spiritual epiphany on the smoking crater summit. Roberto Rossellini's raw, volcanic neorealist masterpiece starring Ingrid Bergman.
