Simon of the Desert

Synopsis

For six years, six weeks, and six days, the ascetic hermit Saint Simon Stylites stands atop a high pillar in the burning Syrian desert praying and performing miracles, repeatedly tempted by the Devil in the form of a seductive schoolgirl, a hairy-legged Christ figure, and a casket, until being whisked across time to a 1960s New York rock-and-roll discotheque dancing 'The Radioactive Flesh'. Luis Buñuel's satirical jewel starring Claudio Brook and Silvia Pinal.
