Ride the High Country
Synopsis
In turn-of-the-century California, an aging, honorable former lawman takes a job guarding a gold shipment from a squalid mining camp high in the Sierra Nevada mountains, hiring his old friend and partner who is secretly scheming with a young gunslinger to steal the gold, culminating in an ethical standoff and shootout with depraved brothers in the high pine country: 'All I want is to enter my house justified.' Sam Peckinpah's elegiac, Cannes-acclaimed Western masterpiece pairing Western cinema icons Randolph Scott (in his final screen performance) and Joel McCrea.
