Synopsis

A disgraced, cynical New York newspaper reporter exiled to a podunk Albuquerque daily finds an opportunity for sensational comeback when a treasure hunter is trapped in a collapsed ancient cliff cave, deliberately prolonging the rescue effort to turn the tragedy into a grotesque national media carnival. Billy Wilder's ferocious, prophetic indictment of tabloid sensationalism starring Kirk Douglas.
