Winter Sleep

Synopsis

In the surreal, snow-covered volcanic fairy chimneys of Cappadocia, an arrogant, wealthy former stage actor named Aydın operates a boutique hotel called Othello while writing pompous newspaper columns, presiding with passive-aggressive cruelty over his much younger, frustrated wife Nihal and recently divorced sister, until winter blizzards isolate the hotel and force devastating, Chekhovian conversations that strip away his benevolent vanity. Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Cannes Palme d'Or and FIPRESCI-winning 3-hour Chekhovian masterpiece starring Haluk Bilginer with Schubert's Piano Sonata in A major.
