Synopsis
An exiled Greek filmmaker returns to the war-ravaged Balkans to search for three undeveloped reels of film shot in 1905 by the Manaki brothers, the pioneering cinematographers of the region, traveling by train, barge carrying a colossal dismantled statue of Lenin down the Danube, and through the sniper-fire fog of besieged Sarajevo. Theo Angelopoulos' Cannes Grand Prix-winning 3-hour epic starring Harvey Keitel and Erland Josephson.
