Tokyo Twilight

Synopsis

In a chilly, industrial post-war Tokyo winter of dive bars, mahjong parlors, and abortion clinics, a dignified retired bank clerk struggles to support his two daughters: an elder daughter fleeing an abusive marriage with her toddler, and a rebellious younger daughter who falls pregnant by an irresponsible boyfriend and discovers their long-lost mother running a rundown mahjong den nearby. Yasujiro Ozu's darkest, most harrowing melodrama starring Setsuko Hara and Ineko Arima.
