Synopsis
Trapped in the suffocating daily monotony of Tokyo commuter trains and corporate desk clerical routine while mourning their dead infant son, an ordinary salaryman embarks on a brief extramarital affair with an energetic typist nicknamed 'Goldfish', shaking his marriage and prompting a voluntary transfer to a remote railway provincial office. Yasujiro Ozu's longest, most melancholic post-war portrait of salaryman disillusionment.
