To Have and Have Not
Synopsis
In Vichy-controlled Martinique during World War II, a cynical, detached American fishing boat captain who refuses to take political sides is drawn into the French Resistance by his infatuation with an alluring, nineteen-year-old American pickpocket and lounge singer nicknamed 'Slim': 'You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow.' Howard Hawks, Ernest Hemingway, and William Faulkner's legendary wartime romantic noir starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in her smoldering screen debut.
