The Saragossa Manuscript

Synopsis

During the Napoleonic Wars in Spain, an officer finds an ancient leather-bound manuscript recounting the adventures of his Walloon grandfather in the spooky Sierra Morena mountains, spiraling through a dizzying Chinese-box labyrinth of stories within stories involving Moorish princesses, cabalists, gallows ghosts, and mathematical philosophers. Wojciech Has' cult three-hour surrealist epic beloved by Luis Buñuel, Jerry Garcia, and Martin Scorsese.
