The Hourglass Sanatorium

Synopsis

A young man travels aboard a decrepit ghost train through a spiderwebbed landscape to visit his dying father in an isolated, decaying sanatorium where time does not function normally, slipping backwards into childhood rooms, Jewish folklore, wax museum emperors, and the phantom memories of a pre-Holocaust Galician shtetl. Wojciech Has' Cannes Special Jury Prize-winning hallucinatory dream masterpiece adapted from Bruno Schulz.
