Synopsis
In 1955 Liverpool, an introverted eleven-year-old boy named Bud spends his days sitting on the staircase watching sunlight drift across wallpaper, hanging upside down on iron railings, and escaping into the glowing palace of the local cinema where film soundtracks and Hollywood musicals transfigure the damp rain of post-war English childhood into pure visual poetry. Terence Davies' Cannes-competing lyrical cinematic hymn featuring Nat King Cole's 'Stardust'.
