Synopsis
Two parallel stories in Los Angeles collide: an aging, Victorian horror screen icon Byron Orlok prepares for retirement feeling his classical monsters are obsolete in a modern world of real terror, while an ordinary, clean-cut Vietnam veteran sniper murders his wife and mother, takes high-powered rifles to a highway petroleum storage tank to shoot passing motorists, and positions himself behind the screen of a drive-in movie theatre where Orlok is making his farewell appearance. Peter Bogdanovich's thrilling, prophetic debut thriller starring Boris Karloff.
