Synopsis
In 1988, facing mounting international pressure, Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet calls a national plebiscite on his presidency, granting the opposition fifteen minutes of nightly television airtime for twenty-seven days, prompting a brash young advertising executive to reject traditional dour human-rights messaging in favor of a joyful, rainbow-branded television ad campaign selling happiness and hope to defeat tyranny. Pablo Larraín's Cannes Art Cinema Award-winning and Oscar-nominated political summit shot on vintage 1980s U-matic magnetic videotape starring Gael García Bernal.
