Melancholia
Synopsis
Divided into two chapters, the film opens during a lavish, suffocating wedding reception at a secluded golf resort castle where a clinically depressed bride named Justine watches her marriage and corporate advertising career unravel in real time, followed by a second chapter where Justine and her anxious sister Claire watch in paralyzed awe as a rogue blue gas planet called Melancholia hurtles on a collision course directly toward Earth. Lars von Trier and Manuel Alberto Claro's Cannes Best Actress-winning visual symphony starring Kirsten Dunst with Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde prelude.
