Synopsis
In immediate post-World War II 1945 Germany, a naive, idealistic German-American pacifist arrives in Frankfurt to work as an overnight sleeping-car conductor for the Zentropa railway network under Allied military occupation, falling in love with the troubled daughter of the railway magnate and becoming coerced into an assassination conspiracy by fanatical 'Werewolf' Nazi guerrilla insurgents. Lars von Trier and Henning Bendtsen's Cannes Jury Prize and Technical Grand Prize-winning visual tour-de-force combining hypnotic black-and-white rear projections, splashes of color, and Max von Sydow's hypnotic countdown narration.
