Synopsis
A 59-year-old Newcastle carpenter convalescing after a severe heart attack is denied employment and support allowance by a privatized bureaucratic assessment algorithm despite his doctor's orders, befriending a desperate young single mother struggling with food-bank poverty and spraying a desperate graffiti manifesto on the welfare office wall: 'I, Daniel Blake, am a citizen, nothing more, nothing less.'
