Synopsis
In 1927 Midwest America, a fast-talking, charismatic travelling salesman with a knack for Bible verses and whiskey joins the revival tent evangelical crusade of Sister Sharon Falconer, using fiery, fire-and-brimstone barnstorming theatrics to pack revival tents with cash and converts, until an old flame turned prostitute blackmails him with incriminating photographs in a brothel hotel room. Richard Brooks and Sinclair Lewis' triple Academy Award-winning masterpiece (Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay) starring Burt Lancaster and Jean Simmons.
