Synopsis
In 1607, three English sailing ships arrive on the shores of Virginia to establish the Jamestown settlement, where English captain John Smith is captured by the Powhatan tribe and saved from death by Pocahontas, falling into an ethereal, transcendent communion with nature and first love before duty, disease, and colonial bloodshed tear them apart, leading Pocahontas across the ocean to the manicured gardens of Jacobean England with tobacco planter John Rolfe. Terrence Malick and Emmanuel Lubezki's Oscar-nominated visual symphony starring Colin Farrell, Q'orianka Kilcher, and Christian Bale with Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 and Wagner's Das Rheingold.
