The Last Detail

Synopsis

Two cynical, seasoned U.S. Navy lifers are ordered to escort an eighteen-year-old sailor from Norfolk to the Portsmouth naval brig in New Hampshire to serve an eight-year sentence for attempting to steal forty dollars from a charity box, taking pity on the sheltered kid and deciding to give him the time of his life on a freezing five-day cross-country farewell of beer brawls, hot pastrami sandwiches, brothels, and Soka Gakkai chanting. Hal Ashby and Robert Towne's triple Oscar-nominated and Cannes Best Actor-winning New Hollywood masterpiece starring Jack Nicholson and Randy Quaid.
