The Go-Between
Synopsis
During the sweltering Edwardian summer of 1900 in Norfolk, a naive twelve-year-old boy staying at a grand country estate is enlisted by the beautiful aristocratic daughter of the house to act as a secret messenger boy carrying handwritten notes to a rugged tenant farmer, unwittingly triggering a devastating moral and class tragedy that destroys his innocence: 'The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.' Joseph Losey and Harold Pinter's Cannes Palme d'Or-winning summit starring Julie Christie and Alan Bates with Michel Legrand's score.
