The Edge of Heaven

Synopsis

Divided into three chapters—'Yeter's Death', 'Lotte's Death', and 'The Edge of Heaven'—the film traces a profound web of tragic, intersecting destinies between Germany and Turkey: an elderly Turkish widower in Bremen whose prostitute lover dies accidentally, his university professor son who travels to Istanbul to find her daughter, and a radical Turkish student activist who flees to Hamburg and falls in love with a German girl whose mother undertakes a pilgrimage of reconciliation. Fatih Akin's Cannes Best Screenplay-winning human tapestry starring Baki Davrak and Hanna Schygulla.
