The Battle of Chile
La batalla de Chile: La lucha de un pueblo sin armas
Synopsis
A monumental three-part documentary chronicle filming the day-to-day collapse of Salvador Allende's democratically elected socialist government in Chile between 1972 and 1973, capturing street strikes, CIA-backed economic sabotage, military rebellions, and the September 11, 1973 military coup by General Augusto Pinochet, including the harrowing moment Argentine cameraman Leonardo Henrichsen films the soldier shooting him dead in the street. Patricio Guzmán's Cannes and Leipzig-winning documentary monument smuggled out of Chile in diplomatic pouches.
