Taxi Teheran
Synopsis
Defying a 20-year government ban on filmmaking and international travel, director Jafar Panahi mounts a small dashboard camera in a yellow taxi cab and drives through the streets of Tehran posing as a cab driver, picking up a colorful cross-section of passengers including a bootleg film vendor, an injured man dictating his will on a smartphone, two elderly women carrying goldfish in a bowl, and human rights attorney Nasrin Sotoudeh carrying roses. Jafar Panahi's Berlin Golden Bear and FIPRESCI Prize-winning triumphant act of cinematic resistance.
