Synopsis
A naive, pure-hearted country orphan carrying an honest university diploma arrives in Bombay wearing torn clothes, falling in love with a poor, principled schoolteacher named Vidya, but becomes seduced into the dazzling luxury, casinos, and corrupt pyramid housing scams of wealthy racketeers under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code: 'Mera joota hai Japani...' Raj Kapoor's socialist Chaplin-esque musical masterpiece starring Raj Kapoor, Nargis, and Nadira.
