Synopsis
In post-war rural Korea, an obsessive itinerant pansori singer wanders the countryside with his adopted son and daughter trying to preserve the dying traditional art of narrative folk singing, blinding his daughter with medicinal herbs to instill the profound 'han' (sorrow and tragic depth) necessary to master the divine sound. Im Kwon-taek's historic cultural milestone that became the first Korean film to surpass one million admissions in Seoul, featuring a legendary 5-minute uninterrupted tracking shot singing Arirang over country hills.
