Synopsis

Beginning with a ruined, bankrupt man stepping in front of an oncoming train screaming 'I want to go back again!', the film moves backward in seven reverse-chronological episodes through twenty turbulent years of South Korean history—from the 1997 IMF financial crisis and brutal police torture of student activists to the 1980 Gwangju Massacre where an innocent soldier lost his soul. Lee Chang-dong's shattering national tragedy starring Sol Kyung-gu.
