Synopsis
In an isolated, wind-swept country cottage surrounded by misty Russian forests and birch trees, a devoted adult son tenderly cares for his terminally ill, dying mother, carrying her through fields of wild wheat to sit beneath trees and whispering tender memories of childhood before she gently slips away. Aleksandr Sokurov's Moscow Special Silver St. George-winning visual prayer photographed through anamorphic distorted lenses, prisms, and painted glass like a living Caspar David Friedrich canvas.
