Synopsis

In 1852 antebellum New Orleans, a willful, manipulative southern belle scandalizes high society by defying tradition to wear a shocking scarlet red dress to the virginal white Olympus Debutante Ball, losing her aristocratic fiancé and sparking a deadly yellow fever duel that pushes her to the ultimate sacrifice on leper-infested Lazaretto Island. William Wyler's five-time Oscar-nominated masterpiece starring Bette Davis (Oscar Best Actress) and Henry Fonda.
