Synopsis
Inside Northern Ireland's Maze Prison in 1981, Irish Republican prisoners wage the 'No Wash' and 'Dirty' protests by smearing excrement across cell walls and refusing to wear prison uniforms, culminating in Provisional IRA commander Bobby Sands undertaking a fatal 66-day hunger strike for political status. Steve McQueen's Cannes Caméra d'Or-winning physical and spiritual monument starring Michael Fassbender, centered on an unbroken 17-minute two-shot debate between Sands and a Catholic priest.
