Synopsis
Spanning forty years in the Colombian Amazon (in 1909 and 1940), an enigmatic Amazonian shaman named Karamakate—the last surviving member of his wiped-out tribe—guides two foreign white scientists along winding rivers in search of the sacred, hallucinogenic yakruna plant, witnessing the horrific atrocities of rubber-baron genocides and messianic cult madness along the banks. Ciro Guerra's Cannes Art Cinema Award-winning and Oscar-nominated summit photographed in breathtaking 35mm black-and-white.
