Synopsis
Two starving Jewish teenage boys leap from a moving Nazi transport train into the freezing, dense Bohemian forest, running for their lives while pursued by a posse of ancient, bourgeois Austrian hunting-club retirees with rifles, as memories, hallucinations of bread and childhood rooms, and parallel realities collide in their exhausted minds. Jan Němec's breathless, visceral Czech New Wave debut celebrated for its handheld tracking shots through mud and trees.
