Synopsis
In 1945 Leningrad, amidst the frozen rubble and trauma of the devastating 900-day siege, an extraordinarily tall, shell-shocked former anti-aircraft gunner nicknamed Beanpole suffers from sudden catatonic freezing paroxysms while working as a nurse in a military hospital, navigating a complex, co-dependent relationship with her fierce army comrade Masha whose child she accidentally suffocates.
