All We Imagine as Light

Synopsis

In monsoon-soaked Mumbai, two Kerala nurses sharing an apartment navigate love and independence: Prabha, a restrained head nurse troubled when an unexpected rice cooker arrives from her estranged husband working in Germany, and her spirited younger roommate Anu, who conducts a clandestine romantic liaison with a Muslim youth in hidden city spaces, travelling together to a misty seaside village where a magical forest allows their desires to breathe. Payal Kapadia's Cannes Grand Prix-winning lyrical contemporary masterpiece—the first Indian film in official competition at Cannes in thirty years.
