Synopsis
In 1242, the Prince of Novgorod rallies the Russian peasant militia to repel an invasion by the brutal, crusading Teutonic Knights, culminating in the monumental, climactic Battle on the Ice on frozen Lake Peipus. Sergei Eisenstein's visual and musical masterpiece featuring Sergei Prokofiev's immortal cantata score composed in direct vertical audio-visual counterpoint with the editing.
